Function

Emergency Management is a term used to describe the steps taken by government agencies to plan, organize, and prepare for the saving of lives, protection of property, and the recovery from the effects of an emergency, disaster or catastrophe.


Mission Statement

GEMA is the lead state agency for coordination of emergency and disaster response activities. GEMA's mission is to provide a comprehensive and aggressive emergency preparedness, response, and recovery program for the citizens of Georgia in order to save lives, protect property, and reduce the effects of disasters
